ABSTRACT The allometric equations estimate the biomass, from which the amounts of carbon that can be released to the atmosphere or conserved are determined. To mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, natural areas are conserved and forest plantations are established. The objective of this investigation was to adjust allometric equations to estimate aerial biomass in Tectona grandis. The study was conducted in Tizimín, Yucatán. To quantify the biomass the direct method was used, felling 32 trees, these individuals are averages in normal diameter and total height, later the green weight in field was determined by component and subsamples were extracted to determine the relation Dry weight-Green weight, and so calculate the total dry weight of each component of the tree. Linear and nonlinear models were adjusted, using independent variables of normal diameter and height, selecting the best model adjustment using the highest coefficient of determination (R2 ), the smallest standard error (Syx) and the lowest number of independent variables (k). The results indicate that the normal diameter efficiently estimates the biomass in each of the components, with the nonlinear (potential) model having the best fit, mainly in the stem and total component with an R2 of 0.96. 17% of the total biomass was recorded in leaves, 35% in branches and 48% in stem. With the adjusted allometric equation of this study it is possible to estimate the biomass in each of the compartments for the plantations of Tectona grandis
