Resumen

INTRODUCCIÓN: El trastorno de hiperactividad con déficit de atención (TDAH) es la condición más común en niños. Como Odontopediatras tenemos la responsabilidad de orientar a los padres y tener los conocimientos para poder detectar comportamientos atípicos y así realizar una referencia con el especialista que le puede dar seguimiento y tratamiento adecuado al paciente. OBJETIVO: Evaluar la percepción, actitud y manejo de los padres sobre el trastorno de hiperactividad y déficit de atención en niños que acudan a la facultad de odontología de la UANL. METODOLOGÍA: Se aplicó una encuesta sobre la percepción, actitud y manejo del TDAH infantil a padres de niños en un rango de edad de 3 a 13 años, que acuden a la facultad de odontología de la UANL. Se realizó una encuesta basada en la literatura y de diferentes preguntas de estudios ya validados, se realizó un estudio piloto para darle validez. La encuesta estuvo conformada de 8 preguntas de percepción, 8 de actitud y 8 de manejo, 24 en total, y fue aplicada a 200 padres de familia. RESULTADOS: La percepción general fue de 81.44%, actitud de 76.42% y el manejo de 82.67%. Los padres obtuvieron mejor percepción, actitud y manejo que las madres. También se obtuvieron mejores resultados en percepción, actitud y manejo en nivel socioeconómico y educativo alto, pero sin diferencias significativas CONCLUSIÓN: Los padres obtuvieron buena percepción, actitud y manejo del TDAH infantil y si se vio relación con el sexo del padre, perfil socioeconómico y nivel educativo pero sin diferencias significativas. ABSTRACT INTRODUCTION: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most common condition in children. As pediatric dentists we have the responsibility to guide parents and have the knowledge to be able to detect atypical behaviors and thus make a referral to the specialist who can provide follow-up and appropriate treatment to the patient. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the perception, attitude and management of parents about hyperactivity disorder and attention deficit in children who attend the UANL dentistry faculty. METHODOLOGY: A survey on the perception, attitude and management of childhood ADHD was applied to parents of children in an age range of 3 to 13 years, who attend the UANL dental school. A survey based on the literature and different questions of validated studies was conducted, a pilot study was carried out to validate it. The survey consisted of 8 questions of perception, 8 of attitude and 8 of handling, 24 in total, and was applied to 200 parents. RESULTS: The general perception was 81.44%, attitude of 76.42% and management of 82.67%. The parents obtained better perception, attitude and management than the mothers. Better results were also obtained in perception, attitude and management in high socioeconomic and educational level, but without significant differences. CONCLUSION: The parents obtained good perception, attitude and management of childhood ADHD and if it was related to the father's sex, socioeconomic profile and educational level but without significant differences.
