Resumen
During the nineties of the last century and the first part of this century, the state of Chiapas became the national protagonist in migration of the United State, ranking in the top places and even displacing the volume of flows originating in the traditional migration region or Mexico. However, after a decade of migration boom different questions arise: Was migration north consolidated? With what force does it continue? This investigation focuses its analysis in unraveling the last questions for the decade between 2000-2010, using a demographic technique called the balancing equation. It is concluded thet during the study period the northward migration by Chiapas resulted in an average annual loss of 30 thoudand people in the state, however this volume failed to cause a population decrease although deficit of some men is visible.
